Sterling K. Brown for the L.A. Times

For this LA Times shoot, I gave Sterling K. Brown nine frames—one for each emotional layer of his American Fictioncharacter, Cliff. With every click, he shifted into a new beat: vulnerability, humor, conflict, restraint. The result is a concise, character-driven study that captures the tension between who we are and who the world expects us to be.
